Hey can I get people's opinion of Kodi on E2 Receivers and also if u have Solo4K how u find it on that devices too...

Been using for over a year on minix devices and like to use builds to make it look good too but so far I've found the response slow..

If someone on Solo4K + Kodi 17 is all setup and running can I try out ur image? Cheers...

Cannot comment about the 4K models but given a choice between my Solo2 or Fire TV box for running Kodi i would choose the later every time, Kodi on VU+ is a nice extra to have & works fine but poor compared to running it on the android device imo.

Thanks Ten Below, that's what I was afraid might be the answer...

If you have a latest Fire TV can I ask how the 4K is compared to Android Box if u can relate? Cheers...

Isn't the quality of the 4k mainly defined by the actual device displaying the output tv, monitor projector etc and the media being played back?

Some of the earlier 4k tv's do not run true 4k, as they were release before the HDMI specification for 4k was agreed.

Having a device that supports HDR also makes a difference, at least in the limited comparisons I have made between a non HDR LG and a Sony tv that supports HDR.

Having it on a 4k enigma2 box is a great bonus, its a great addition IMO, I have on my Vu+ Uno4k and also my Nvidia Shield and Fire box.

I.e on Vu+ wanna watch a film, havent got other remote, can easily view with no issues, lack Pvr (well it dont that can be installed, but internal player is shite and has no sound and pvr wont play via external)

Don't buy a 4k enigma2 box just for Kodi, but if you already have one, install it, chuck on own media/best addons and then have option of your Fire TV and the Vu+.

as for slow response, it depends on what minix you got and also what BUILD.

Some builds using heavy skins, widgets more mods will run like a dog on older machines.

Try something like Wookie Lite, it flys on my Vu+ and Shield.

Or even better install 5 addons and add a picture lol

Sorry guys I meant the build ran slow on the vu+ not my Minix U9-H, if I can get it that good I'd be laughing....

I'm debating whether to keep the Solo4K or go towards a Shield TV as I was hoping to use my sly card with legit subscription in my device but that's now not possible?

so if it's just IPTV and Kodi I'm using with my 4k TV that has Freesat tuner do I need the receiver? In two minds now..

If your only going to use it for freesat when you hae a legit subscription doesn't seem to give much benefit to be honest. Unless you get a motorised dish or have a cable entry point you could go the cable route.

Kodi is a great addition to an e2 based receiver, but is better used on other devices/platforms.

The same also seems to be the consensus with IPTV - The magbox, can't remember what the OS is called being the favourite, partly because of the ease of setup etc. VU boxes can do it all kind of a jack of all trades, I think that improvements will be made in this respect going forward but time will tell and its only my opinion..,

Cheers for your feed back Banny,

I will say the sly is only basic about £15 a month but I don't plan on renewing so it will be just IPTV and Kodi (if it remains) going forward... No cable in my street so no luck there.

Time to think then....

What do you use it to watch? Sport tv shows? Movies etc?

For IPTV and the way things are and the changes and attempts to get more power from the TV and Movie companies, I would say a good VPN that doesn't keep logs is a must :)

Out of all boxes mentioned, get the Nvidia Shield.

Its trumps it all, has benefit of Nvidia Games and if like Retro gaming also its good.

Plays things very very well indeed and top end of the market.

Then dunno wots left on s*y, but surely you can still get most of kids stuff, add a couple of apps for cartoons and that should be one child happy...

As for other half depends what she watches but my older sister was asking about IPTV to be able to record Constapation err Corrantion Street and Cheesyenders aka Eastenders err hello BBC Iplayer and ITV Player...
