Astra 2G, the third and final new UK TV satellite for the 28.2 east position, is expected to be launched in the next few months.
Although no official date has been announced, apart from Quarter 4 in 2014, rumours suggest early to mid December.
Astra 2G will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
This would mean that Astra 2G would be operational sometime around February to March 2015.
It is expected that Astra 2G will take over operational from Astra 2A and Eutelsat 28A.
Astra 2G is expected to have similar signal footprints to the first two new UK TV satellites, Astra 2E and Astra 2F.
For some areas of the Southern Mediterranean, like Greece and Cyprus, this could mean further loss of Sky pay channels, as the UK and European beams may not cover those areas.
Some areas may benefit from the new satellites, particular those area that can struggle with channels on Astra 2A?s North beam.
