Thanks for doing this. Made it so much easier :) Just one question though, does this change the password on the box as I can't connect using the default root

Yes it does and apologies I forgot to post the information so have updated the post to reflect the password change in the image.

Alright, so my initial suspicion was on track at least. But how do I edit settings when I cannot get a signal to my screen? It literally just dies after showing "the wolf screen". Can this be done in code before flashing the stb?

By the way..I have checked out this image and work perfectly......great back up image.

You need to set up your desired tuner configuration...then your network set up....then you can install latest Sat list settings from B/H addons

It's 'UK Ready' which means it is set for 28 East only.

As already mentioned you can enter tuner settings and change this to another single satellite

or

make it for Motor (set to USALS & enter your Longditude & Latitude).

I am terribly sorry to be such a drag guys, but I think we need to sync where we are in the process here. :p I hope you will forgive my apparently bricked brain, take a deep breath, and dumb down a bit for me. :)

Here is the situation:
I have bought the duo2-box in preparation for switching to a sat-like service on Sept. 1st. I am currently in Poland, but will be in Denmark within a few days. For that reason I have not even started to look at sat-settings, as this is simply 1: not needed at this point and 2: I don't have the correct information yet.

I have however been looking at different images from different builds, working on the assumption that they can ALL satisfy my future sat-needs - so what I need now is the right mix of plugins and add-ons.

Now - the list of plugs and adds in this particular backup looks promising, and with other backups I have tried, all I had to do was install it (flash it) and voila - we're in. With this one, I need to change some sat-settings as it is UK-ready. Ok.

Except I don't know WHERE to change these settings. After flashing this backup I have absolutely no access to any functions on my Duo2. I get the load-screen, and I get the backdrop with Donkey and Wolf - and then it disappears in favor of blank screen. I can see the box respond to my remote inputs (menu switches), but I have no image on my TV at all.

Can I change these settings remotely? What part of this process am I missing? :)

Again, sorry to be a bother. I really wish I wasn't.

The DUO2 does need to be connected to a dish & LNB for it to display anything on the TV. :D

@William and @Tube10000 : Yea, it's a Vu+ Duo2, connected to my tv via HDMI.

@William again : Normally, when pressing menu, I would get - well - the menu dressed to fit whichever image I was running. Now nothing happens on the tv. I can see that it is responding on the duo2-display: if I click "menu" the display will switch to "menu" and if I navigate up or down, the display will switch to reflect whichever option in the menu that I have selected. The display does, however, not display sub-menus. In other words: I can click menu and navigate to "setup", but from that point on I am navigating blind.

@DirtyDonki : With all other incarnations of software, ranging from the original firmware to all previously tested images, the TVs have displayed "something", even without a sat attached. Of course I have not had flow-tv displayed at any point, but the images would still show menus and plugins like KODI for instance.

If the STB is busy trying to find it's last known channel then it will not display anything until its search has timed out.

As you are having such trouble with this image I suggest you use another incarnation. :mutley:

Just for understanding issue. Your VU+Duo2 is conected via HDMI to your TV, and you dont get any picture on your TV from your Vu+ Duo2.

So, try and connect you vuno via scart to your tv and see what happens. If that doesn´t work reflash the box.

Re flash the receiver with the standard 2.1.7 ....and in the initial Wizard set up select HDMI output ....that should work..,...,then once verified that your out put selection is the problem you can play around with back up images if you want...
OpenViX Hades VU+Duo2 UK Ready Backup By DirtyDonki is also very good

All, I've downloaded this image and flashed it on my new Duo2 and I've had exactly the same issue as Anders. Boots up, shows the boot logo, the Wolf screen and then a black screen. Remote does stuff to the box but nothing happens on screen. I've got a Pioneer 720p panel (yes, it's old, bite me) hooked up to the Duo2 and I'm wondering if the box is defaulting to 1080p and therefore cannot handle the signal? Anders, if you're still about, what resolution was the TV you had set up?

If it is that, am I knackered for using this image (or images like it)?

Ouch!

Yep. My backups are set to full HD because I have a feckin 60" (don't bite me) flat panel.

What you can do is once you see remote activity is to go to your PC and access the STB via the web. From the Web I/F you can set the resolution using the virtual remote to suit your set up and then it should magically appear on your 720p.

Ah, now, I didn't know that. I did the more ungainly method of unplugging the box after I flashed it, going to our second eldest's 1080p TV he has in his room, boot the Duo2 and then set the resolution on the box to 1080i. And all working fine.

I'm *very* impressed with this box so far... :D
