I'm not currently using USALS because my dish is out of alignment, so I'm manually storing the satellite positions. Is there a way I can back up these positions for when I refresh the image? Does the satellites.xml file store manually input motor positions?

No but if you back your settings up then you will also save those positions. So if you adjust or add make sure you backup again.

Motor settings are stored in the file /etc/enigma2/settings if your image does not support backing these up & restoring then you can do it manually providing you have a copy of this file, to do this first stop enigma2 via telnet.

Ftp to the settings file with DCC & edit replacing all lines beginning config.Nims with what you have from the saved file, it will look simillar to this.

Save then start E2 via telnet again & your motor positions will be restored.
