Custom / Unofficial Build Compiling on a Dedi

I apologise if this is the wrong category for this question, but I did have a look through, and couldn't find anywhere more appropriate. Mods please move if required.....

I've leased a dedicated server running Ubuntu 16.04 Server edition just to see about working on my own images before I find the resources to start compiling stuff 'on-site' (I was using Parallels but it keeps dumping the network connection)....

The problem is, for some reason it gets to 73%, carries on at 100% CPU but I have no idea how to diagnose what's going on. My VM build moved a lot quicker and had less resources, so I'm sure something is wrong

I may just be being impatient, but I just don't feel 100% certain.

I wouldn't worry too much buddy i have a similar setup but on 14.04 & if i look via webmin cpu is always at or near 100% during building but it never affects other things like image feeds running normally so just carry on as you are imo.

Very grateful for your reply actually, I have the choice between 12.04, 14.04, 16.04 and 16.10; it seemed to do the same on 16.10 so I downgraded it to 16.04 as sort-of recommended by the README.ts

I'll let it run overnight and see what occurs Thanks again....
