Euronews expands on German cable
Euronews is now broadcast unencrypted to 900,000 digital homes covered by the third largest German cable network operator Tele Columbus.

Subscribers of Tele Columbus’ integrated networks in federal states Berlin, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia and Hessen are now able to receive the European news channel in German, Arabic, Persian and Turkish language on channel 118 in the basic package.

“I am delighted that Euronews has earned the confidence of Tele Columbus to enrich its digital offer,” Arnaud Verlhac, director worldwide distribution of Euronews, said in Lyon. “Thanks to its editorial quality and broad range of languages, Euronews gives this German operator a competitive edge.”

Sylvie Paulin, distribution manager Western Europe of Euronews, added: “The German audiovisual market is one of the largest in Europe, but is also one of the toughest to enter. As an international channel, Euronews remains competitive by meeting the needs of different cultural communities in Germany.”

In total, Euronews now reaches nearly 34 million households in Germany.
