German Bundesliga launches VOD service
Germany’s national football association Deutsche Fußball Liga has launched its video-on-demand (VOD) service.
The offering announced in April 2015 comprises historic video footage from 52 years of Bundesliga and new material.
German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland is the first partner and will offer its subscribers the content under the title Bundesliga Collection. The service is available to Sky subscribers on on-demand services Sky Go and Sky Anytime without additional charge. DFL is in negotiations with further possible distribution partners.
At launch, the lineup contains more than 30 hours of material including sections like Legends of the league, The best goals, My season and Season final comprising both historic footage and original TV commentary as well as current statements.
The VOD service is based on the German Football Archive operated by DFL subsidiary Sportcast containing a total of 65,000 hours of video material.
