How to Flash an Image to a Vu+ Receiver
See post #2 for 4K STB's!

To install a new image, you need a USB stick formatted to FAT32 (formatting can be done on a PC or similar).
  1. Download the desired image zip file for your model.
  2. Extract the zip file. There will be a folder called 'vuplus' & under that folder another with the name of the Vu+ model (see example screenshot below).
  3. Copy the 'vuplus' folder to root folder of your USB stick. It should look like this:

  5. Remove any other USB device.
  6. Turn the receiver off.
  7. Insert the USB stick into the receiver (front is most convenient).
  8. Turn it on.

Adapted from instructions provided by our own Vmax:

Flash Instructions for 4K receivers.

Important: Please unpack the archive on the USB flash drive, then the directories are created correctly.
  1. Download and save image to the PC (USB version).
  2. Use a USB stick with the FAT file system or format FAT32.
  3. Copy the archive across to the stick.
  4. Unpack the file on the USB stick (eg with WinRAR, WinZip, 7zip, etc)
  5. It then has the directories created on the stick:
(STB can = solo4k or uno4k or ultimo4k) on the stick!
There are now 5 files in the directory and your USB drive should look like this:
upload_2017-1-20_13-49-16.png
  1. Turn your Vu + STB off (in the Deep standby or power switch).
  2. Remove all USB devices from the box.
  3. Open the front flap.
  4. Insert USB Stick (front is most convenient for this).
  5. Power on your Vu + STB
  6. Once the solo 4K boots you will see the update message on the LCD display inviting you to "Press Power1".
  7. You must press the "power button1" within 5 sec for the flash to start.
  8. After successful flash process, the Vu + STB reboots. See video for more.
Notes:
  1. The file rootfs.tar.bz2 does NOT need to be decompressed.
  2. The power button is the circular touch button on the front and not the rocker switch on the back.

How to Flash a Vu+ Uno 4K SE

To flash a VU+ Uno 4K SE, you'll need to download an image file, format a USB drive, copy the image to the USB, and then use the USB to update the receiver. It's recommended to use the rear USB port for flashing.

Here's a step-by-step guide:
  1. 1. Download an Image:
Obtain the desired image file (e.g., OpenViX) from the manufacturer's website or a trusted source.

  2. 2. Prepare the USB Drive:
    • Format the USB drive with an MBR partition table and FAT32 file system.

    • Extract the downloaded image file, which typically contains a folder named "vuplus".

    • Copy the entire "vuplus" folder to the root of the formatted USB drive.
  3. 3. Flash the Receiver:
    • Ensure no other USB devices are connected to the receiver.

    • Power off the receiver completely (not just standby).

    • Insert the USB drive into the rear USB port of the receiver.

    • Power on the receiver.

    • The receiver should automatically detect the image and begin flashing. The LED indicator will flash rapidly and then fade in and out slowly.
    • If not then touch the power button if this option is shown

    • The flashing process may take a few minutes.

    • Do not power off the receiver during the flashing process, as this can cause serious issues.
  4. 4. Completion:
Once the flashing is complete, the receiver will reboot with the new image.
