Right this little tutorial just shows you how to update your satellites.xml if its outdated and needs updating.
Now theres a couple of ways you will be told to do this but ill show you the way most of us are doing it now so you can be kept up-to-date too..

Firstly you need to download an up-to-date satellites.xml which can be downloaded from the link below. Just go and select the satellites you want and download it at the bottom of the page

    Code:
[ Only registered users can see the bbcode. Click Here To Register... ]

Once you have downloaded your file you now need to ftp the file to the following directory on your box

    Code:
[ Only registered users can see the bbcode. Click Here To Register... ]

Once that is done you need to Restart Enigma before you can use the new file to scan

    Code:
[ Only registered users can see the bbcode. Click Here To Register... ]

Once the box has come back on you can now go ahead and scan your satellites and update the outdated channels

Now some of you might be wondering "Why use etc/enigma2 and not etc/tuxbox...?"
    Short explanation,

The image comes with a built-in satellites.xml, located in etc/tuxbox. This is a system-file and is being updated as soon as an online update of the image is carried out. Also there could be a possibility the file in this location maybe overwritten by the system.
You can also use a customised satellites.xml, placed in etc/enigma2. If one is available here, it takes priority over the system-file in etc/tuxbox. If this one is messed up, it can be deleted and the system-file will take over immediately (after an E2-restart).

Any questions pplease dont hesitate to ask.

    Thanks to Pheonix

One example would be if a channel has moved & the new service can not be scanned in.

So if you've got an upto date channel list and you've done a service scan and say a certain channel isn't clearing then update your xml file

Me, I usually only update if I am missing stuff. When this happens I just get an up-to-date channel list from my favorite settings provider.

Also, if I feel it's been a while since I last updated I might do a personal update but this is pretty rare.

Once I have the new settings I will open then and deleted their default bouquets. After doing this I reimport mine, (having exported them first of course). Once done I reupload to my STB using DBEdit. That way I don't have to worry about the XML file as it will always be the most current.

The satellite.xml file is updated as part of a image update for most images these days so it is fairly rare to need to do it manually unless the image is it self really old.

    Hello,
I have put new satellites.xml into etc/enigma2. I have rebooted the Ultimo 4k with BlackHole 3.0.3. It does not seem to see it.
And I still see the dead AMOS1 and don't see the new AMOS2/3. Why it is not working? Is this a Blackhole-related problem?
