New Free TV channels
The media group ProSiebenSat.1 launches on September 22, the free-TV channel kabel eins documentary.
Highlight the first broadcasting day is at 20:15 the documentary series "The American West" with Hollywood legend Robert Redford, the cable shows one documentary as German TV premieres. The eight-part series examines the three decades of US history after the end of the civil war in 1865. The events are narrated by Redford's colleague Tom Selleck, Mark Harmon and Kiefer Sutherland.
Other international productions that run as German TV premieres are "Unreported World", "Difficult Destinations" and "Dangerous Grounds". Each evening is for a particular topic - history of crimes up to nature and technology.
The ad-supported station, broadcasting around the clock documentaries, will be free and unencrypted to receive a digital TV program via cable, satellite and IPTV. The technical range is loud ProSiebenSat.1 initially at about 60 percent of TV households and is to be expanded.
