SkyLookingSetup4Vix (v2 beta)

(build 30/10/15)

FEATURES INCLUDE: Add channel numbers within the Graphical EPG and I've added ability to choose, from available options, what you wish the 4 coloured buttons to do within EPG.

This plugin will setup any current version of OpenVix (currently 3.2) to look more like $ky.

It automatically adds a modified graphical epg to better improve EPG experience, picons (some maybe missing), sky bootlogo and a working mgcamd mg_cfg file.

This should work on most enigma2 boxes.

PRE-REQUISITE:
  • Recent OpenVix image (currently 3.2)
  • OpenVix-Blue-HD skin installed and setup
NOTICE:

This plugin will overwrite any picons installed on your box in, "/picon", overwrite any default bootlogo with 'Sky Believe in Better' bootlogo' and will overwrite any mg_cfg for the mgcamd softcam.

HOW TO ADD CHANNEL NUMBERS:
  1. Menu > Setup > System > EPG > Graphical EPG settings
  2. Under "Service Title Mode", choose an option that includes channel number
  3. Under "Use Channel Numbers from First Bouquet", select the main bouquet (normally "All Channels").
HOW TO CHANGE COLOURED BUTTON OPTIONS:
  1. Menu > Setup > System > EPG > Graphical EPG settings
  2. Select coloured button you wish to change (ie "Red button") and choose, from available options, what you wish the button to do.
WARNING:

This plugin will not work DreamMultiMedia (DMM) boxes due to very little freespace in flash.

HOW IT WILL LOOK:

Below are some screenshots of how the setup should look:-

Thanks goes to Rossi, Matt and anyone else at another forum for the modded graphical epg look. Special thanks goes to KillerCow for adding feature of adding channel numbers to EPG.

Thanks & credit to ketmp

Hi, I have my epg, picon etc, running from my external usb, I'm new to the scene, and forgive me for asking a question you probably get all the time, but how do I install this? Is it just a case of ftp to my usb, enigma2, plugin, extensions?
Thanks in advance

Send the file to /tmp using ftp then enter this in telnet.

Hi Folks,

Tried the above and it has some how really messed up my Vu Duo2 box. Was on Vix3.2 and was already running Blue HD. Ftp'd file across to box but couldn't overwrite via telnet as response I got from session was unable to locate /tmp. So I went in via the blue button and selected Vix and applied the new "look" this way. It appeared to execute OK but when I rebooted, I am now stuck between the $ky believe in better and a crash report. I have tried reflashing Vix image and even tried a boot loader option without any success

Anyone's help would be appreciated

Thanks

Connect with ftp & go to /usr/share/enigma2 then delete the folder named Blue-HD & your box should boot as normal.

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I have removed what would appear to be the corrupted Blue HD but in turn it removed the IP address from my box so I am unable to FTP into as I can't see it on DCC. For some apparent reason I can't overwrite the existing set up through the front USB.

I am still stuck in a bootup/crash report loop

Help!

I'd be inclined to either use Static IP or assign a permanent reservation for the box in DHCP so as to avoid a repeat of this in the future but all is not lost.

If you use DCC (Dreambox Control Centre - don't be fooled by the name) you will be able to find the box IP via the search function. You can also look on you router to check to see which devices are connected. If using a Windows OS you can also type "Net View" in a command window.

You will also need to remove the directory of the 'offending' skin for the loop to stop.

Thanks for everyone's help. I already use DCC for ftp'ing purposes but since removing the offending skin, a search doesn't show the IP address of my Duo. Before deleting the skin, I could see Vix night and Vix common but the box doesn't refer to these when booting. When I boot up, I see the $ly believe in better, with VIX logo in the top left corner, then followed by the crash report. Will it be a case of contacting the retailer to ask them to resolve?

Thanks

I cant see how removing the skin folder could possibly leave without ftp access but i think the quickest & easiest way to fix this for you is simply to reflash the VIX or other image & set it up again or use a ready made backup from HERE.

Ok thanks I'm on openvix with a different skin
Make a full backup of your image then you will find Blue-HD to install in the vix feeds if you really want to try it.

this disables recording feature on vu+ zero. tried 3 times, flashed openvix 3.2 032 and recording works, as soon as this is installed the recording feature causes a crash.

when any recording feature is activated it crashes and gives the log that is attached.

when going into user interface and then settings it also crashes and gives the log that is also attached
