VU+ Kodi Addons /media/hdd/.xbmc folder for newbies

Can someone explain the difference between the xbmc folder and the .xbmc folder?
Also, I have no audio at all on my kodi. It looks like I'm running navi-x v4, which I think may be the problem. So I've downloaded v 3.8 and ftp'd it across to /media/hdd/.xbmc/addons. I open kodi and it still shows navi-x as v4? I'm lost?

Still stuck on this. I realize now that that this lot needs copying to the .kodi dir not .xbmc, yes? anyway I've tried that and still no joy. I guess the xbmc dir's are obsolete now? Just want a clean start for a working kodi, anyone?

Hi Benali

If you had a .xbmc directory on your hdd before then Kodi would or should have renamed this to .kodi on first run. If not then yes you only need a directory on you hdd called .kodi.

You need to apply the fixed Navi-X before you can update it within Kodi ONLY. (XBMC users please note that you should NOT update it at all else it stops working).

To fix your current dilemma I suggest you navigate to your .kodi folder and further navigate to addons wherein you should delete both navi-x folders. Once delted replace them with the ones attached and sound will return because Navi-X will then revert to using Mplayer instead of Kodi's native one which does not work for some reason I don't know about.

Sorry, I must be stupid, still cant get this lot to work. The navi-x fix is ver 4 and just seems to freeze when you start a film, shouldn't we be using 3.8.2? Also Iplayer for me still not working (jerky and no audio).
So from a clean install:
1. copy over 'xbmc folder for newbies'
2. copy over navi-x fix??
3. install 'bbc-itv-xbmc-fix_vuplus_mips32el'??
4. Anything else I need?

Just done a fresh image and fresh start with Kodi , followed the instructions on this forum still getting errors for Navi x must be doing something wrong any help would grateful.

You only needed to install this if you got a script error within the now defunct Genesis plugin. So you do NOT need to install it to run Kodi. Kodi will be listed as an install option in the ViX plugin feeds (Menu-Plugins-Green-Extensions) and will be called something like 'Vuplus-Kodi' or similar.

Been so long one would hope developers had included it as standard by now. I have certainly not had to install in on any current releases myself.

Sorry guys

If this is wrong post or been asked b4

Can I use the kodi ipk file from my vix image on vu+ duo2 and use it

On the venton HD eco+ plus

Or

Is there a vix image with kodi built in for it

THANKS AGAIN GUYS

Sorry but looking at the spec I don't don't think the Venton will support Kodi but there is nothing to stop you trying.

You will need more than the ipk as there are many associated dependencies but if you can install a image version on it that would normally offer Kodi you should be able to get it from the image feeds.

Install from the feeds, it will be listed as vuplus-kodi.

Whenever I update the software on my Uno I get a warning that I have only 4mg of flash remining do I want to proceed. The media folder 197mg which is small for the hard drive I've got but I am worried about transferring a file that size to the root of my image in the first place. Can someone tell me I am worrying unnecessarily.
