News sports channels for Poland
Eleven Sports Network will launch two sports channels in Poland this August.
According to Wirtualne Media, they will be known as Eleven and Eleven Sports, with the former focusing solely on football, including Italy’s Serie A and France’s Ligue 1, and latter offering a range of sports in addition to football, among them Formula 1 and NFL.
Both channels will be in HD and distributed by cable networks, DTH platforms and over the internet.
They will join a growing list of sports channels available in Poland.
Numbering over 10, they are led by Polsat Sport in terms of audience share, with the most recent entrant being Canal+ Sport 2.
Eleven Sports Network is owned by The Channels Co Ltd, which is also planning channel launches in Belgium, Singapore and Malaysia before the start of the new football season.
Andrea Radrizzani, its owner, set up MP & Silva, the agency selling the rights to the Polish premier football league Ekstraklasa.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, they were won last week by Canal+ for a further three seasons.
