Vu+Solo2, OpenaTV6.1 (Ten Below's), M3U

I have an M3U from a paid subscription and want to install its contents. Previously (on a Wooshbuild7) I generated a .TV file online and ftp'd it to somewhere in /etc/cantremember. Rebooted and all the channels were accessible BUT in a long loong looooong list and not separated out into sections (bouquets?) - so I ditched that. Can I improve on that here? If so, please anyone help me with a detailed how-to.

A more difficult task - anyone have some clear exact instructions on getting IPA set up on OpenVPN for this same config. This I did mange to get working 100% except for not restarting after power off on Wooshbuild7.

TIA

Suls e2m3u2bouquet IPTV Bouquet Maker
Thanks very much Ten Below, for taking the time to reply. I found this, or a variant last night - it had been under my nose but I hadn't looked. I found that someone had taken Suls' work and extended it all nicely into a python script, which can be run on the box via ftp & ssh. The script runs in a number of different ways depending on command line args passed, does almost all you need - only a matter of effecting EPG Importer. I used the form "./e2m3u2bouquet.py -n SUPPNAME -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD" and it worked fine for me on your OpenATV build - happy to post the link here but don't know whether it is allowed. This left me still with the problem of what to do about the VPN not working for me with PIA to whom I'd already paid a year's fees. With the problems involved with getting the right information from suppliers, I cannot see me (with just 10 days as a newbie) being able to get near a working solution.

As it occurred to me late in the night that I hadn't gone far enough in the right direction with Woolshbuild7, I reverted to it. There was no e2m3ubouquet directory but I persisted and all is now working with the use of the python script. VPN is also behaving properly on tests so far so I attribute my wrong conclusion about it not restarting after power off to finger trouble - I suspect I may have accidentally switched off autorestart on the way to exiting. So, at the moment, I am a happy bunny ... we will see.

I'm sorry to say I do not. I saw your question earlier but assumed it was meant for someone else as I'm still a newbie. As I said in my post I gave up trying to get it to work with OpenATV as the method of setting up config files etc as referred to in Ten Below's guide has proved very hard/impossible for far more experienced linux sat box experts. Ten Below has got it working and shows how for people using IPVanish I think. For my supplier PIA I was beaten at stage 1: ie 'download OpenVPN Config files' it said. But which OpenVPN files - there were many and each I downloaded and unzipped didn't appear to contain the necessary files. The more I probed the more difficulties I found people had met. Someone had asked the question 'Which config files?' about 6 weeks ago and it still remains unanswered. For all I know some of these suppliers have goofed.

On Wooshbuild7 I did it in a different way. I used the plugin "Add VPN Easily". That allowed me a choice from Digibit,PIA,IP Vanish,Nord or Strong and the set up info is integrated with the OpenVPN facility.[What do you do if you got your VPN from someone else? I do not know!]

My knowledge was not good enough to find this plugin on OpenATV and the fact that it isn't there told me to forget it. All Add-VPN-Easily required was to select the supplier and input the login credentials. My guess is that the VPN suppliers are not implementing their services in a standard way so that the developers can write a 'one-fits-all' script.

Hi Ten Below, I gave up not because it doesn't work but for the reason that I could not identify the files I needed to carry out the instructions on your guide. At that stage I started googling to see whether anyone else pinpointed the files I needed and during this I formed the conclusion, perhaps wrongly, that this was a bridge too far. As my aim was to get a working set up to test things on the field this weekend, I'll wait till next week to give it a try again. Here is the link to the support pages of PIA:

I did like the look and feel of your OpenATV build much more but would not able to use it without a functioning VPN. Would you be able to tell me which download I need? And even better, which files I need. As I said before somebody posed this question on a PIA forum many weeks ago and there was no reply!

As always, TIA.

Added:
As you will see from Ten Below's posts, he does not think there should/would be any problems setting it up. Out of interest, which supplier's VPN are you using? Have you looked at the guide yet? This may seem dumb but I'm not sure whether you've managed to tell your box who your supplier is and what your login credentials are. If you have not, then we know why it fails. The set up of this info is not in the OpenVPN utility - it is only used to start/stop the VPN and indicate whether you want the automatic restarting facility. If of course your set up is behaving any different to what is indicated in the guide, I would upgrade to the latest version.

PS
OK I maybe on the correct route here? I found a zip labelled openvpn-strong. When I was looking for the ca file I didn't realise that it's a security cert and therefore only the ca. means anything. I was looking for a ca.blah.crt ! so perhaps I need the ca.rsa.4096 as here and the .ovpn should be the UK Southampton.ovpn? Is the first part of the file the location you pretending to be in?

I had a look on their website & think you should be using the recommended default openvpn config.

Thanks for the link. I got the VPN installed for PIA - the difficult part had been finding the files. Worth mentoning here that their set up required 2 files - ca.blahblah.crt & crl.blahblah.pem - both of which are mentioned in the newly renamed Client.conf (blah.ovpn) file. I had trouble installing the IP Checker - which should have been dead easy and might have something to do with what follows - but much more worrying is the chronic unresponsive user interface I now have. Huge problems depressing OK, DownArrow,UpArrow, +, -, Exit. I shall have to revert to the old setup again if I don't find a quick fix - sometimes just very laggy other times key depressions appear to have been swallowed.

If I have these problems when I return to the old set up, I'll post back.

OK - Ignore the laggy unresponsive stuff. Looks like batteries needed replacing. I assumed that as the infrared lit up it was ok. But I've just noticed that it misses every now and then too! LOL

A very good image, I just flashed it at the weekend, only one question, the SkyQ skin, I can't get picons on the SkyQ window, I have used SkyQ skins before, and know the picons go in usb/SkyQ/picon but no joy in this skin, is it different?

Menu > Setup >Service Searching >AutoBouquetMaker or use AutoBouquets E2 in the plugin menu.

Note: This image is currently being updated to 6.2 so feeds will go down for each model until all are rebuilt.
