Hi all,

I have a VuPlus Uno 4k SE running OpenATV 6.2. I do not have multiple bouquets, but just one with all the channels I want. I have configured 9 German channels on channel numbers 1-9, and then BBC1 SE on channel 10, BBC2 on channel 11 and so on.

I find that when a recording has finished, the box goes in to a mode where all the channels are available again. That is, if I record something on BBC1 SE, and then after the recording press the channel up button, it doesn't go to BBC2, but BBC1 SW, BBC1 Scot, BBC1 ScotHD etc (similarly, the channel down button goes to BB1 Oxford, BBC NI HD etc instead of HR-Fernsehen as configured in my bouquet). When I press the TV button to get the channel list, all available channels are shown, not just my bouquet.

I cannot post images to show what I mean, but I hope somebody has got some idea what the problem might be.

Cheers,

Keith

Have you tried it with all your channels in the favorit folder? That should work.

You mean put all my channels into a favourite folder? I didn't know there was such a thing - it seemed to me that's what the bouquets are all about (complete newbie to VuPlus machines). My bouquet has the name "Favourites (TV)", but I'm guessing that's not what you mean ...?

Yeah, that is what i mean. Is that the only bouquet you got?

Perhaps you can take a few screen shots via the web if.

You know what? I never occurred to me to take a screenshot from the web if (slaps forehead). I took some photos, but when I get home I'll take some screenshots step-by-step

Right, strap in for the details, here we go:

I've just finished doing some extensive tests, in order to figure out under what conditions the problem arises. To start off I should say that I have one satellite feed plugged in - the second is in use and I can't use it for the moment - I shall repeat the tests with that plugged in later, but it seems to be related to this. The great thing about the Vu+Uno 4k is that you can watch one channel while recording another - but if you only have one feed, the choice is limited (I have read but do not understand the technicalities). Here for example is my normal favourites list:

Favourites1.png

When I'm recording from, say, BBC2, it looks like this:

Favourites2.png

Now, during my tests, I found that if I have set up a recording, and am currently watching another channel in the same "tuner group", the problem doesn't arise. However, If I'm currently on, say ITV+1, and have a recording on BBC1 (different groups), I get the following information message:

Grabbing tuner.png

And then the problem arises. After the recording, I am, as expected, on BBC1 SE:

After_Recording1.png

But then when I press channel up, instead of BBC2, I get:

After_Recording2.png

And then:

After_Recording3.png

And so on. If I press the TV button, I see my favourites, and if I choose one of them, it goes back to normal.

These tests were all done with manual one-off timers. I tried it with auto-timers - I haven't done a truly exhaustive test, but jumping from one UK channel to another (different "tuner group", same satellite?), it threw an error trying to switch tuner, and couldn't record:

MergeFailed.png

When I tried it while watching a German channel (different satellite) and an auto-record for a BBC channel, I get this:

AutotimerError.png

Then of course the auto-recording failed.

This explains why it failed to record Dr Who last weekend :-(

So, after all that - any ideas?

I do appreciate your willingness to help!

Cheers,

Keith

Hi,

I've got both satellite cables plugged in now, and it behaves much better. However, I just know that at some point I'm going to come across this problem again, presumably when the the timer tries to switch from one tuner group to another, while a third one is currently in use.

It certainly seems to be a bug - that python error message must be some sort of clue ...

Cheers,

Keith

Thanks anyway. BTW, it did happen last night - I came down this morning and saw that the box had gone into that funny mode after a couple of overlapping recordings last night.

I've had some issues with VTI. The first time it crashed within an hour or so with a blank screen and a small purple square top left - only reflashing worked, which was when I switched to OpenAtv. The second time was this weekend in an attempt to find a solution to this channel list problem. The main issue I've had is that with both attempts it never found any of the British channels. I may try again this weekend. That pubescent fantasy "Smell the Glove" woman was annoying too ...

Ah well, plenty of other images to try.

Cheers,

Keith
