The setup for all vu+ images is pretty much the same, read this then i am pretty certain you will be ready to install whatever image you choose.
The OpenVIX Manual

Just be careful that you are sure the image you choose is compatible with your cloned box before flashing or it could end up being a door stopper.

This question has been nagging me for quite a while now.

Is it a must to keep updating the image, (whatever you choose), for drivers, software etc. Sorry if this question is daft, but I just wondered.

I will not take offence at any reasonable answers.

It is not necessary to update all the time really as sometimes it is minor updates . When a major update comes along I guess you could update . I just update if & when I feel like it lol.

Here's another question.

I am in favour of Image Backups, am I right in assuming that these backups will have improved/new drivers? Of course the software speaks for itself, ie, Splash Screen, Radio Image and extras input by the writer, (hands on forehead and thinks), 'I must try to learn Linux'.

I think that these guys do a hella'va job writing backups.

Thanks guys.

I'd be a big fat liar if I said yes but you can rest assured that any backup done by a VUplus-Images Team member will be completely up-to-date up-to the date it was released on the forum. i.e. with latest patches, plugins and drivers to that point in time.

What I do try to do, time permitting, is to revisit the most popular backups as often as I can to update and re-upload them but again I'd be lying if I said this was a consistently followed process.

Thanks GateKeeper. You have put exactly what I meant.

As far as I am concered, and I think many others on this forum, You Guys are doing a super job.

PLEASE. Take credit when and where its due.

Cheers

:wine:

Just printed and read through the setup manual and found a few differences, and corrected my stb setup. Thank you for a well laid out manual.

Hats off to the backup image makers . They make life so much easier for us simple souls. It needs time & dedication & to have access to all these boxes .
