SimplySports: V5.0 Additions & Enhancements​

1. Dialect-Aware AI Commentary​

I took the AI commentary to the next level by making it hyper-localized.

• Expanded Languages: Added Greek, Croatian, Serbian, and Bosnian.
• Native Arabic Dialects: Added عربي (مصري), عربي (عراقي), عربي (خليجي), دارجة (مغربية), and عربي (شامي) to the language menu, written nicely in their native script.
• Smart Prompt Routing: Built an underlying engine that automatically detects your selected dialect and instructs the AI to adopt that specific regional tone and vocabulary (e.g., instructing the LLM to speak with a "casual Egyptian football fan tone" instead of just standard Arabic).

2. AIToast UI Positioning & UX​

Polished the visual presentation and usability of the AI commentator notifications.

• Less Intrusive: The AI overlay can now be dismissed instantly by pressing almost any standard remote button (Up/Down/Left/Right, OK, Cancel, Red, Green, Yellow, Blue), so it never gets in your way.
• Better Typography: Increased the AI Toast font size (from 26 up to 30) so it is significantly easier to read from the couch.
• Screen Placement: Lowered the AI window by a total of 25 pixels (shifted the Y-axis from 927 down to 952) and slightly padded the height so it anchors better to the bottom of the screen.

3. Critical Generator Stability Fix (The​

• Under-the-Hood Fix: Resolved a critical system issue where the plugin was improperly suppressing Enigma2's termination signals. By upgrading bare except: catch-alls to except Exception: inside the match processing loops, the plugin now safely respects GeneratorExit events.
• Result: This permanently clears the RuntimeError: generator ignored GeneratorExit errors that were silently flooding the logs, improving overall memory safety and system stability when closing the plugin or rebuilding UI lists.

Watching the game is better when we watch together! I'm thrilled to announce a major update to SimplySport, introducing a feature: Watch Party.

Now, you can interact with other users in real-time while watching live matches!

What’s new in v5.7b:
Real-Time Reactions: Send emojis and reactions that appear instantly on everyone’s screen.
Custom Messages: Use your remote to type custom 10-character messages—share the excitement in your own words! (Press 0 in the remote to open the keyboard)
Live Participant Count: See exactly how many fans are in the Watch Party with you.
Smart Bandwidth Tech: We’ve optimized the connection to be lightning-fast while using almost zero data.



This is a BETA version (5.7b). Because this is a brand-new technology for Enigma2, I'm launching this as a Beta. You might encounter a few bugs as still fine-tune the servers and the real-time sync. Your feedback is essential to help us make it perfect!

How to get it: Update your plugin to version 5.7b and open the "Watch Party" for live matches only with the blue button (The alert modes moved to the menu list).

V5.8 update just dropped for SimplySports!



I've been busy the last two days shipping a wave of improvements — here's what's new:



WATCH PARTY — MAJOR UPGRADES



Who's cheering who? A new one-time team selection lets you declare which side you're on (Home, Neutral, or Away). Your choice is pushed live so everyone in the party sees the fan count update in real time beside each zone. Skip? You're counted as Neutral



Press OK to see who's watching — names are now shown inside their actual team zone, not just in a flat list. Home fans on the left, Away fans on the right.



The Neutral zone just got smarter — if a satellite feed for the match is found on SatelliWeb, it shows the actual feed info: satellite name, frequency, polarisation, symbol rate, and encryption status. All the details you need, right there.



Live fan counts beside each zone header, updated every time reactions come in.



Fixed a bug where the viewer count always showed 1 even when multiple people were watching. Also fixed the watch party screen appearing transparent on open.



Visual polish across both screens — reaction fonts bumped up, help bar tidied, team logos enlarged, zone dividers now actually visible.

New update V5.9 for the Simplysports plugin!

I have been working hard on some big improvements, and I am excited to share a new update today. This release adds a cool AI feature, better menus, and fixes some annoying bugs.



Here is what is new:



New AI WatchParty Commentary

I added a smart AI that acts like your personal commentator. It reads live match stats, pre-match news, and news sources to create a short 1 or 2 line commentary every few minutes directly on your WatchParty screen. It is designed to wait to show the text if the screen is busy with viewer reactions.



The New Favorite Leagues System

You can now easily build your own list of Favorite Leagues, based on balkanac suggestion. When you scroll through the Select Single League list, just press the Red button to mark any league with a heart. Press the Green button to save them. You will now see a third option in the menu called "Favorite Leagues" where you can quickly choose which of your favorites show up on the main screen. To make things clearer, the main screen will now show "Favorite League View" in the top right corner when you are using this mode.



Favorite Teams Moved and Upgraded

I moved the Favorite Team selection window to the League List (just press the Red button on the main screen) to make it easier to reach. I also added fast-loading team logos to the favorite team list and included translations for the names to make it look much cleaner.



Important Bug Fixes

Your Favorite Leagues and Custom Leagues are now completely independent, so saving one will not overwrite the other anymore. EuroLeague basketball is no longer locked, so you can select or remove it just like any other sport. I also fixed the bug where the red heart icon would disappear when you selected a favorite league.

Here is everything new:

Instant Match Lineups and Substitutes

Want to know who is starting? Just highlight the match and press the 0 button on your remote! You will instantly see the starting players distributed on a virtual pitch. I have completely redesigned this screen with an elegant, semi-transparent glass look. In addition, I expanded the layout so you can now see the entire substitutes bench neatly arranged on the sides with their photos and shirt numbers!

Live Badges for Goals and Red Cards

When viewing the lineup, you will now see live icons next to the players! A red card will appear for sent-off players, and a soccer ball showing who scored goals. If a player scores multiple goals, you will see multiple balls arranged next to their name. I also updated the events timeline in the Game Info screen to replace the old text with these beautiful, clean icons next to the players' names.

Player photos (World Cup teams only)

Full 14-Day Match Schedule (use the <> buttons on the remote control to browse through the days).

You can now keep track of the schedules with ease! The new match schedule allows you to browse matches starting from 7 days in the past to review recent results, up to 7 days in the future to see upcoming games.

The Yellow Button is Now for Filtering Live Matches

The yellow button on your remote control has a brand-new function. It no longer changes the time format. Instead, just press the yellow button to instantly filter the screen and display only the matches playing live right now!

Full Arabic Translation

I have added Arabic translation for national teams! It is not just limited to formatting the days of the week and months beautifully in Arabic, but international team names have also been translated. You will see team names in Arabic everywhere: on the main screen, top and bottom bars, pop-up notifications, and the game info screen.

Lightning Fast Loading and Live Scores

I have completely rebuilt how matches load. Navigating between days is now incredibly smooth, and matches appear instantly without any screen freezing. Furthermore, live scores and match times now update perfectly in real-time on the main screen, even while browsing your custom leagues package!

Fresh Daily Backgrounds

I added more stunning World Cup backgrounds. The background image will now change automatically as you browse through different days of the week.

Accurate Late-Night and Tennis Schedules

Matches played late at night (up to 3:00 AM Baghdad time) will now correctly and reliably remain within their actual viewing day. Also, schedules have been fixed to only show matches scheduled specifically for the day you are browsing, keeping your screen clean.

# Searching for broadcast channels has now become more comprehensive in finding channels by relying on a new fuzzy logic search principle. Also, you can now press the EPG button and continue browsing the app until the broadcast channels screen appears.

Complete Clarity for Canceled Matches

If a match is canceled or suspended, the word CAN will now clearly appear instead of showing a confusing 0-0 score as if the match had finished.

New Remote Control Shortcuts

I have updated the top menu to make navigation simpler. Press 0 to view lineups, number 8 is dedicated to the World Cup tournament, and 9 to jump directly to your custom leagues. I also organized the layout of the top menu so the last updated time, which is now on the right side, does not overlap with the SimplySports title.

Great news for soccer fans! The SimplySports 6.2 update is now available, packed with brand-new features that take the match-watching experience to a whole new level!

Important note: Please update exclusively via Telnet. Do not use the in-app update feature.

The highlight of this update is the introduction of the SimplySports Arena, a comprehensive soccer platform currently in beta that allows you to track leagues from all over the world. The new platform offers almost all the features found in the main app, including:

1. Team lineups.

2. League standings.

3. In-depth statistics.

4. A bottom bar that can be changed automatically or by using the remote control arrow keys.

5. A match-tracking feature that allows you to receive notifications for favorite matches.

The EPG screen has also been completely overhauled. It now fetches data from external sources, including livesoccertv.com, to provide the most accurate and comprehensive broadcasting channel information available. To make finding your favorite content faster, a new blue button has been added, allowing for instant searches within your receiver bouquets for channels based on their names.

Visually, a sleek new top minibar has been introduced, designed in a World Cup scoreboard style for easy viewing. (You can select this from the third option in the menu under Top Bar Style: World Cup).

Several important fixes have been implemented based on user feedback:

* Late-night match time management: Matches occurring after 12 am local time are now correctly categorized as part of the following day (tomorrow's matches).
