Sky Sports announces biggest shake-up EVER, with UK prices SLASHED to 60p a day
SKY has unveiled one of the biggest shake-ups to its television service in years – with a complete overhaul of its Sky Sports line-up.

Sky Sports will receive a monumental shake-up later this month, Sky has confirmed.
The UK broadcaster is ditching its traditional channel line-up – Sky Sports 1 HD, Sky Sports 2 HD, etc – and replacing it with an entirely-new set of channels, focused on individual sports.

The new line-up includes dedicated Sky Sports channels for football, cricket, formula one, and golf.

All of the action from International and European Rugby Union, Rugby League, Tennis, Boxing, NFL, GAA, Darts and WWE will be broadcast on the Sky Sports Arena and Sky Sports Action channels.

Sky Sports will also introduce new subscription plans for customers – with prices starting from as little as 60p a day for one channel.

In an announcement on its corporate blog, Sky confirmed the new package will include ten channels and will cost the same as the existing Sky Sports package, some £27.50 per month.

This price will remain frozen for 12 months, the UK broadcaster reassured.

The complete line-up includes – Sky Sports Main Event (Channel 401), Sky Sports Premier League (Channel 402), Sky Sports Football (Channel 403), Sky Sports Cricket (Channel 404), Sky Sports Golf (Channel 405), Sky Sports F1 (Channel 406), Sky Sports Action (Channel 407), Sky Sports Arena (Channel 408), and Sky Sports News (Channel 409).

Existing customers will receive the new Sky Sports package automatically and the new channels will replace the existing line-up.

But the biggest changes are available to new customers.

For the first time, Sky Sports will now offer something for fans who do not want to sign-up for the full breadth of sports, but are only interested in a specific sport.

The new shake-up is designed to appeal to these customers, offering them the flexibility to subscribe to any individual channel package at a new price.

One channel pack will be available for just £18 per month, two for £22 and three for £26.

Managing Director of Sky Sports, Barney Francis said: “We're dedicating channels to some of our biggest sports, launching a new way to watch the best live action and offering even better digital products too.

“Sky Sports is giving customers even more choice and channels at the same price for another 12 months, while opening up new ways for sports fans to join.

“If you love Premier League, you can enjoy it for as little as 60p a day or you can have the full Sky Sports package for less than £1.”

Alongside the new channel line-up, Sky is also promising a slew of new programmes, including a nightly Premier League debate show on Sky Sports Premier League

Viewers will also be able to enjoy a host of new programmes – including: a nightly Premier League debate show on Sky Sports Premier League; masterclasses and coaching clinics from some of the biggest names in sport including Shane Warne, Butch Harmon and Rob Key; live golf previews ahead of selected European and US events; and a host of new documentaries.

The full range of digital platforms are also being brought together onto one Sky Sports app to make it easier for customers to enjoy all of their sports on the go.

Sky UK and Ireland CEO Stephen van Rooyen added: “Sport has been a major part of Sky for 26 years and we're improving our service even further, super-serving existing customers and providing flexibility to a whole new generation of sports fans.

“We are making sport more accessible and offering even more choice; all part of our continued investment in offering Sky customers an unrivalled service.”

All Sky customers will continue to enjoy Sky Sports News and Sky Sports Mix.

NOW TV customers will be able to purchase the new Sky Sports line-up at no additional cost. Vermin Media and TalkTalk customers will also benefit from the channel changes.
