I'd extract it to see what was init first. Which image is it for and is it just a tar or a tar.gz?

Iv'e got some of these files too (.tar). I did a settings backup from a VU Zero. I updated the Vix image on the box but now I can't restore these settings backup to my box. It says ''no backups to restore'' How can I restore these settings, they are zipped from the box?
I also have some backups (zipped) called .gz which the zero won't recognise.

7zip will let you see inside these.

Settings Backups from different images are named differently. I suspect the .gz may be from Black Hole.

One would normally restore these via software management.

    See post #4

You could also try unpacking and copying over manually but this is not recommended nor reliable as some permissions may get messed up.

I just noticed this is iptv forum, so I think I'm in the wrong bit. I backed up a VU zero image and settings. It looks like the settings are save as .tar file in brackets it's got (.gz). this is in the properties menu for these files. I want to know how I can get these back on the VU box.
