I have a genuine vu+solo 2 that need its flash chip replaced. The original chip is a Samsung chip. I purchased a Toshiba TC58NVG1S3ETAIO chip from a company in Holland. It was advertised as the flash chip for the vu+solo 2.
Before I install it I would like to be sure it will work ok. Anyone have any ideas? I'm afraid that it may be for a clone vu solo 2. Its the same size, pins etc as the Samsung chip.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks in advance for looking.

My box vu is genuine. It took any image, but too many reflashing with different images mess the chip up eventually. IT CANT TAKE INFANTE REFALASHING. Having said that I did flash my box at least a couple of hundred times...hobbyist? And I cant really complain. If you need a chip for a clone...let me know what clone you have and maybe I can help.
I got mine from a dutch company. It worked out fine. But if you cant solder to a high standard forget it m8.

Any make of chip will work, provided it is designed to do the job.
The chip in your link is blank, so will need programming with a eprom programmer before install. (or after with the right tools) I have replaced a few chips for mates of mine, but they were all preprogramed. There is also the jtag option.
How do you know you chip is nackered?

It clearly states that the chip is not programmed in the link. Just tryin to help a guy out. Maybe you could suggest something more informative than me??
By the way, it was a local repair shop informed me the chip was gone but I had suspected it from a lot of research on the net anyway. I have the box up and running again now......with the aforementioned chip. It's all out there mate...just looksee.

As i was you, after all you did ask did you not?
I was only telling you that your chip would work, and the "other guy" that he would be better off buying a preprogrammed chip. bye
