UK viewers to have a connected TV Christmas
Connected devices will likely be hugely popular as a gift this Christmas and in the UK these look set to see immediate use as connected TVs.
According to eMarketer in research conducted by Radium One, almost two-fifths of UK internet users expected to watch over six hours of TV per day this Christmas season, while 21% believed their viewing would top 10 hours daily.
That said, despite internet devices being used as second screens, the traditional TV set will dominate viewing, with 82% of respondents saying they'd watch this way. But only two-thirds said that the traditional TV would be the only set they would use.
When mobile device owners were asked how likely they’d be to use their device while watching the big screen, large proportions admitted they would use the so-called companion devices – 69% of smartphone and tablet owners and 82% of smart watch owners.
