Hi All

I am looking for some help / guidance, I recently updated my VU Duo 2 box (software update on line) I am using SPA 6 image , following the update the box will now not boot up and just shows the white light (deep sleep mode) on the panel at the start. I have tried to re flashed the box with different images / pen drives but no joy , I have also disconnected the hard drive.

Any experience / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Have to be honest and state that I have only ever seen this happen when using multiboot. In that case the bootloader would be looking to run the last selected image which had become corrupted for some reason.

To get around this one could let the box boot and see if you can access via FTP to delete the .selected file in the root of the 'openmultiboot' folder but this will not work in this case as you have already removed the HDD. That is assuming this has been caused by a multiboot image hosted on the HDD.

If we are talking about flash then I would suggest trying to reflash with a stock image.

VU+Duo2 Images 3.0 Released

If that is successful then you can try SPA again.

Hi

Thank you for your quick reply, I did try to FTP the box, after reconnecting the hard drive but no joy. I have also tried the VU + Duo 3 but still no joy. I have also tried a null serial cable to the box , the box connects OK but I am having difficulty finding a image.NFI file , can you offer any further advice on this.

Best regards

You cant use the Null cable method as there are no nfi images for the latest

models. There are nfi images for the earlier

receivers only.

Found this on another site:
I have now flashed with an older image (2.0.9.1) and the box is back to life
Worth a try as it worked for the other person having this issue as well.

Hi _ No joy as the white deep sleep light remains on and therefore will not flash the new image, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you boot it does anything appear on the VFD?

Eg: "
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
CFE V2" message

When you try to flash it does it go through the process?

Eg. you see "Flashing Image", "Formatting" on the VFD as the flash progresses.

You could also try reflashing the v2 bootloader again just in case.

Hi - Yes it initially shows the CFE V2 message on the VFD, but then goes to the double your expectation and gets stuck, if you try to flash the box all that happens is the white deep sleep light flashes whilst you are pressing the black button.

Again any avice would be welcomed, thank you for all your suggestions to date.

I'm beginning to wonder if the box is recognizing the USB at all because it doesn't appear, from what you say, that it is giving you the flashing "Update" option?

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here but can you just double check the usb has the vuplus folder in the root? Should look something like this:

Insert the USB into the STB and power on. Push the small white POWER button (behind the front drop down panel) on the STB when message "update" appears in front panel display.

STB will reboot once completed (if reboot.update is present) or can be manually restarted when 'Update completed' message appears in the display.

Hi _ Just a bit of feed back and to thank you for your help and support. I now have my box back up and running OK , after using the VU image 3 that you suggested, however, I believe that the real problem that I had was that the structure of the image in the pen drive was wrong, as I was using a different laptop computer, when I went back to my old laptop and reloaded the flash drive it worked OK _ So a lesson for me and also to advise other members to be careful when you update an image on line.

Once again thank you for all your help.

Best regards
