Vice wins appeal on UK VOD requirements
UK regulator Ofcom has overruled on appeal the decision by the Authority for Television on Demand for VOD content to hold Vice UK liable to statutory requirements for VOD services.
Atvod) had ruled that Vice needed a licence to public its videos in the UK, but now Ofcom said that since Vice’s HQ is in US it falls outside British jurisdiction.
Vice’s final editorial control is in America and because its parent company is incorporated in the US, Vice lies outside of British control, according to Ofcom.
