Hi All,
just a couple of days ago I received my 4k vu+ and I'm playing with it with big surprise.
I'm quite happy about this receiver but I think it could be really improved.
In particular about it's mediaplayer functions.
Kodi or whatsoever player software is limited by the codecs and I have problem with many different formats.
Reading on the web people suggest to have a stb to see broadcast TV a computer to see movies and a NAS to store them.
So how many things we have to put on the shelf? and what a mess of remote controls, mouse keyboard and so on.
I'm not a programmer so in few words someone could tell me I'm crazy, but I think this limit is due to the enigma2 OS.
So considering that enigma2 has been developed for the functions of TV broadcast and it's impossible do without it,
but in a meantime considering that in vu+ 4k we have processors and memory already used in other box with LINUX or Android,
why don't try to have the option to start the box with enigma2 or android OS.
With the first we should have the good performance for tv broadcast and with the second mediaplayer full functions.
What do you think?

Many thanks for your time.

Kodi 17.1 plays via external media player and works very well considering its Enigma2.

If you wan't dual boot OS, then look at the Wetek PLAY 2 which is Android OS, but can load Enigma2 images by SD and OpenElec (boot to Kodi)

I personally like my vuuno4k as it is :)

@danny187 have you got the VU youtube or chrome working with your UNO 4k ??

As normal, the remote control badly lets down an otherwise good box, but that is typical VU

Has anyone used a dvb/s2 usb dongle on it ?? If so what make/model ?

TIA

Yeah only on OpeNATV 5.3 I think it was.

on Latest gstreamer youtube/chromium doesn;t work yet, I suppose will be upto developer to sort/fix for new gstreamer.

I don't mind the remote at the moment.
