Hi. Read Vu+Duo2 review , seems an impressive box. At the moment I am using the Uno which has been a trusty m/c but has only 256mb internal flash and now I am considering upgrading to the new Duo2 which has 1tb flash and has internal Wi Fi . Is there any loss of signal by going wireless and what are the benefits of twin tuner over single tuner? I have been looking at price of Vu+Duo2 single tuner which is ?418 plus ?60 for 1tb HDD. Cheers.

I have had one for 15 months now and can't fault it. It's fast and has enough internal memory to store everything including a full set of picons for all sat's. So no need for a USB stick or having to use the internal HDD for stuff like that. Even EPG can be kept in flash. :hi5:

It's very fast to boot up and highly customizable. Only thing I miss from my old DM days is the start-up sound.

Having more than a single tuner means one can record while watching something else or Picture in Picture for when there are 2 games on one desperately wants to keep tags on. i have a S2 & a T/C combination in mine which means I have Sat & Terrestrial in one place but it can also be used for Cable if you are lucky enough to live in a cable area which, sadly, I do not.

WiFi works fine for me and I can report there is no noticeable difference for me over using LAN for both live and streaming movies either from the WWW or from my from my NAS (inc HD).

Worth considering the Solo2 as well as it also has a high spec.

Hope this helps.

Hi marcus1975 . I understood the new Vu+Duo2 had just been introduced recently so i am puzzled how you had one 18 months ago . Sorry if my information is incorrect as i am considering purchasing the very latest model. Is it an original box ?. If so , what kind of money are we talking about as it is a used stb ? Thanks for your interest.

The wiki entry is incorrect buddy, the duo2 was released only last summer.

Not likely. They didn't even have beta models of the Duo2 two years ago. Believe me on that one because I do have several Vu+ beta models including one of the first six uno's in the country as well as one of the first Ultimo's and one of the first half dozen solo2's outside of Korea.

I got mine for my birthday at the beginning of Aug last year and seem to remember that they had only just come out back then either Jun or Jul which makes that 2013 & therefore, currently 15-17 months old max. Time flies as you get older. :)

If you speak to a certain person whom I'm sure you are aware of his name (London) Ask him if he is aware of a coder that tested the original RCU's before release *-) One of the first in EU to have final release candidate , prior to EU distributors... *-)
