Yes, I took the plunge and bought myself a VU Ultimo4K.... to replace a Solo4K.

First impressions; wow the tuners are definitely better for the Ultimo4K. From the same dish, Astra28 was at best 98%SNR and around 68% AGC. The Ultimo4K gives me 100%SNR at 82% AGC and it seems to behave better with the Inverto LNB even though both the Ultimo4K and the Solo4K are running self-compiled OpenBH from the same date

If I have one issue, this probably won't affect most people but my 'better half' is registered partially sighted and can't read the standby clock on the Ultimo4K where as it was OK on the Solo4K. Realistically, that's something that can be fixed with LCD4Linux so it just needs me to stop being lazy and do it!

Seeing Tuner P in the menu is a bit daunting but it makes you realise the capabilities of having 2 FBC tuners and still capability for another dual tuner

I am definitely pleased that I purchased one, and will definitely keep adding STBs like this into my 'toy' collection ;)

I've bought one too my friend and I'm just getting used to it... Picture quality is mint but it confuses me with all these tuners.. I dived in at the deep end being a newbie in the sat seen but I wanted to get something really good and I'm glad I took the plunge..

I bought an echstar LT 8700 in the 90's and paid a grand for it.. not such a long time later everyone switched to digital and mine was an analogue so it finished up in the bin. I then spent another 400 on a humax years later and then hd came out so thats collecting dust in the garage.. So this time after hearing that 4k may coming i thought mmm let's have another go n buy this ultimo 4k.. I'm having the same problem as you though with all these tuners but we will get there won't we my friend..I'm glad I bought it as well...

I've had on for just over a year now on a single LNB on a motorised system. So. yes, a bit overkill for my needs but do still benefit from the FBC tuners even with this simple setup in that I can watch a channel whilst recording several others if I wanted to. Or just record several programs on different TP's. On my old DUO2 the limit was alway 2 and only if on the same TP.

Other than that I have no idea how to set these up & always find having 2nd tuner set to anything other than Loop or disabled just kills my setup completely. On that bombshell I just run & hide. :behindsofa:

Hi DD n thanks for the reply.. I've a quad .1 at the back of my house on a motorized 80cm dish with 2 outs going to my kitchen tv and the other 2 feeding tuners a and b of the ultimo in my living room.. I've another fixed 80 cm on the side of my house with twin 0.1s feeding the 2 tuners in the next slot then an external outside antenna feeding the two tuners in the 3rd slot which I've switched to dvb-t and t2.. I've just bought a unicable lnb and the single output on it has got me sratching my head where to put it with all the 6 downloads from both dishes..

very good box, i upgraded from duo which is still being used in front room as a slave to stream from ultimo4k.
I bought it 1 week after release, with s2 fbc and cable fbc.
tested for recording and each tuner gave 8in1 for each tuner so 16 virtual tuners.
I can record what i like, Stream what I like to second room without any issue of running out of tuner.

Lets hope it will last as long as my duo, and I am no expert in capable hand prob do lot more
very happy
