Just answered this one another forum, as I hate the thought of people paying over the odds so thought id share it with my favorite (and really only hobbyist board I use...)...
There are 4 different types of HDMI cable
1. low speed (pre hdmi 1.4 if I remember correctly when 3d capability was added to the specification
2. low speed with Ethernet support.
3. High speed (hdmi 1.4 and above)
4. High speed with ethernet support.
