RTL II relaunches HbbTV service
German commercial TV broadcaster RTL II has relaunched and extended its offering for the owners of smart TV sets suitable for interactive multimedia standard HbbTV.
RTL II RED which can be accessed through the red button on the remote control contains video content accompanying RTL II’s TV programmes, an electronic programme guide (EPG), games and third-party content, for example a fitness training scheme and editorially composed music playlists.
Through the Favoriten feature, viewers can place their favourite content in a personal area for fast access. Another new function is the TV Notification service which alerts the users of RTL II RED while watching videos that a new programme will commence on RTL II’s linear TV channel five minutes before its broadcast. When it commences, another reminder pops up.
The HbbTV service is free of charge and financed through advertising.
