VU+ Solo Backup Images What is a backup image ?

A backup is just an official release image with extras, the creator will start by flashing an image then installing softcams, plugins, settings ect then creating a full backup of the image which others can then use on their receivers by flashing the exact same way as you would any official image. Hope that makes sense.

Yes and as an Ultimo owner your backups would be a most welcome addition to the collection.

I am very glad to have come across this post. I was under the impression that an Image Backup was written from start to finish. So, one starts with a downloaded image and then adds what is needed to make a new image. To make the image different, ie, Splash Screen, Spinner, Radio Logo etc, do you have to write code? Or can you/me use other peoples addons and make sure that/they are thanked for their input.

This might all sound as stupid questions, but I would like to give something back to this forum for all your/their help in the past. I will have a look at Tens 2 posts below and try and glean some info there.

You´re all right with what you´re writing about the BU Images. Only one thing you should keep in mind. Make sure that you don´t have any personal files (cccam.cfg, oscam files) in your BA Image and test all the plugins which you add to your BU image.

Many thanks Tube1000, Installing and writing all this should keep me going for a few days. I can't make any promises but I will give, making my own image, a damn good try. Of course I will try it all out on my own box first. If I screw up I can try, try and try again.

OOOh! What a feeling, I might be giving something back. :dance3:

My recommendation, to avoid personal stuff getting out there, is to having backup candidates in openmultiboot only. i.e, on hdd. The when you backup and release you can always come back to it should you need or want to add/update. Also make answering support questions more convenient.

There is also no need nor point in setting your geolocation in Tuners. I just set to 28E now and work with that as my base. Downloaders will need to set their own locale anyway.
