I did not change any language files huskyfirst, you should report this to the BlackHole team in the Arabic support section so they can fix it.

Flashed this image yesterday, this is now my 3rd day playing with a solo2 and I just thought I've give some feedback. I had a problem with my 1st USB stick but the second worked fine. Pretty much everything worked out of the box, I had one problem with the existing harddrive coming up as /media/sda1 rather than /media/hdd, this stopped the timeshift from working as it wanted to write to /media/hdd and didn't find enough room. I deleted /media/hdd and created a symbolic link to /media/sda1 which allows it to write to the hard disk and now timeshift works. As this is a bit of a hack I was wondering if there is a better way without wiping the hard disk and starting again ?

Overall though it's excellent and my Sky+ box is starting to gather dust.

The mounts normally sort themselves out as does FTP, SAMBA etc after the 2nd full restart. Also, one can go into device manager to reamp mounts oneself if one needs to or one can define one's own recording paths via the setup.

Creating a symlink is quite a novel approach I had never even considered before. Learn something new every day. :D

Thanks, it was going well until I decided to do a full system backup, this complained it had no device to backup to so must not like symlinks. I then edited /etc/fstab and changed the UUID to that of my drive (found by using blkid at the command line). The hard drive then mounted as /media/hdd so I then created a /media/sda1 symlink to point back at /media/hdd in case there were left over references somewhere. This seems to have done the trick and I can now do backups. I do have one problem left though, when I try Menu/BH Apps/Device Manage I get nothing but I still have to exit to get back to the app menu. The only thing I have found so far is a line in /var/log/messages

vusolo2 user.err kernel: UBI error: ubi_open_volume: cannot open device 0, volume 0, error -16

Having Googled a bit it appears UBIFS is for flash filesystems so not sure if and how it's related to the hard drive issue, if Device Manager won't appear do you have ideas as to where I should look next ?

Everything is working fine so I'm not even sure this is an issue other than the menu not appearing

The reason device mangler does not appear to open is down to the skin being used on the image. If you change the skin back to the default skin as if by magic it appears again. This has caught a lot of us out on recent BH images. :D

Be interested to hear how you get on after changing skin warrenr2 as for me there was no problem with device manager.

It's AOK on the default skin but seems to happen if one changes the skin for an alternative one. Can't be more specific than that as it has been so long since I ran BH to create my backups after which it's straight off again. So never used by me in anger but had someone else with this same complaint on one which turned out to be down to the skin I/they had added.

Hi, yes I can confirm what DirtyDonki says, on the default skin I get Device Manager on the MetrixHD skin it doesn't display ... although I have adjusted parts of the MetrixHD skin (changed info bar) since I flashed it. Thanks for the explanation guys.

I've just run opkg update, opkg upgrade which went ok and didn't complain about anything. I have run it again a second time but it found no updates so I think it's up to date

However none of the cams start now, in particular cccam-2.3.0, I can run it manually but I don't know what switches to give it. I've had a look around in /etc/init.d/ for something that would start it but can't find anything. Is there somewhere else I should be looking for startup scripts ?

..... and is opkg update, upgrade on a regular basis a good idea or am I likely to break things, on server Linux I'm kind if used to doing upgrades pretty much weekly, usually daily on my desktops.

Thanks

Think I just part answered my own question, I appear to have a new /etc/CCcam.cfg file, I'm used to updates asking my whether or not I want new config files .... learning that might not always be the case :) will have a look at my settings backup.

Did a settings restore vi the TV and the /etc/CCcam.cfg didn't restore, untarred the autobackup from last night and manually copied the files back, rebooted, no good. Manually started CCcam_230 and all is good. This makes me think there is another startup file somewhere that needs sorting. Would love some help before I mess up more :)

If you go into software manager and go into 'advanced options' you can do a 'select backup files' and add files like cccam.cfg, spinners, logo's, etc. I find this very useful after a system update & when creating new image backups.

Thanks for the advice I'll be certain to do that. I still have to start CCcam_230 manually after a boot though, is it something to do with
/etc/BhCamConf

I've got these two lines in it
deldefault|/usr/camscript/Ncam_CCcam2.3.0.sh
delcurrent|/usr/camscript/Ncam_CCcam2.3.0.sh

not sure why the del bit at the front of each line

User in DCC is root. I would expect the password to be the one you have already tried (vuplus-images).

Can only suggest you try access via a telnet session either in DCC or directly via command prompt. login as root and see if it asks for a password at all. If it goes straight to the prompt then none was set i.e. it has been left at default which is blank. If that turns out to be the case then use the passwd command to set one of your choice if you wish.

More stuff worthy of a read here.
