The only person that can really answer this is yourself by trying each image until you find the one that works best for you but if we could all vote here for our personal favorites it will give beginners a rough idea as to which ones to try first.

when i bought my receiver it came pre loaded with a vix image installed by the online shop - it was ok but not really my cup of tea to tell the truth
i had blackhole on my old dm800 original receiver so installed the latest black hole and have stuck with it ever since
i notice openATV leads the pole for the time being and would be interested to hear from other members why this one is so good

Being a novice/still learning, I tend to always go back to Open Vix. Keeps the Mrs, happy. As soon as I can get here away from 'Purplicious Skin' I will carry on trying other images. I, like you liked BlackHole, especially Ten Below's, but kept on getting asked "What button to press??" As SuperTux has said it is up to the viewer to find the most comfortable and easy to load, (with all the extra's) and find your image. I would go with 'Backup Images' first for convenience.

When I got my Duo2 I wanted to see something fresh compared to what I was used to on DM's. I ended up using VTi for a long time, loving the Atile skin. Tried others in the meantime but always ended up back using ATV coz it just had everything I wanted and a great GUI.
Was never a fan of BH nor ViX until recent times. For me BH always were brilliant images but too much for my simple head.
I have just produced a backup image for Apollo 037 and surprise, surprise, this is the longest I have ever had a ViX imaged on my box. Normally, I'm back using ATV once finished doing a backup but not this time. This time it might just become my new image of choice until something better comes along.

Im a Vix image fan but there are skins which make the difference. I use Vix-Night-HD for two main reasons.
1. The EPG button has a screen view top right of the current channel that Im viewing. Top Left the channel programme description which changes to anything highlighted on the time line. Of course there is the usual green button to book a programm to record. OK others may have this but I alter the time line by pushing the menu button /settings and configuring in 10 time line lines, reducing down the width of the Channel name to 90 and increasing the channel name to 1. The biggee here is that you can still view uninterrupted the channel you are watching while programing recordings.
2. The other screen (info - Now next) is similar but is viewed by pushing the scroll up ^ . Left side is all the Channels in blocks by default of 18. I press the Menu button / settings and change Number of lines to 20. For me this helps in organising the structure of channels into categories eg Ch 1-20 to News and local channels, 21-40 Movies and History type channels, 41 - Sports etc. The top right is the Current viewed channel and bottom right is the now and next descriptions of what ever is highlighted on the left side list. Many other skins and images have a similar screen but do not include the Next descriptions.
3. The Info Bar (press OK) and the second OK press reveals more. These two windows on the bottom I have modified at earlier times to look better but the the skin designer didnt seem interested. I couldnt figure out to save this over a newly installed update. Have accepted the default at this stage.
I have tried Blackhole 4.0 and while I like the graphics and some of the transparent overlays it it falls down by NOT having a NEXT descripton displayed in like point 2 above. Its getting close to being pretty good. I might revisit someday if someone puts up compelling screen images and a skin that takes my fancy. Looked at other Images like Vti and the default skins are too big and chunky. Designed ... (not Designed) ... Designed by technicians and not graphic designers.
Some images come loaded with masses of plugins which only nerds know what they mean. The short description still doesnt help. Whats needed is honest reviews of the Plugins with screen shots and what they do. Maybe that there could be a section on this forum which deals with plugins. Yes I know each image will have their plugin favourites and will only download because of modified to image. Thats all off my chest now. Have a happy day.

I always thought the vti workrd best for me then i downloade something and it froze my box so had to reflash so i thought i would try something new i give this ago Atemio4you-2.3.1-VU+Uno been very stable so far 2 weeks now with out a glitch
That one actually a pimped version of the original vuplus image, nice to hear some feedback on it sure other will be tempted to give it a go now.
Yes, Me!!! Time I dusted off my trusty VTi image and updated it. Not as practical as ATV IMHO but in my eyes the Atile Skin gives it a uniqueness that still appeals.

teams images, reservations i have is that i wish they would add a server
with a extra pluggins list so new users to linux receivers could get the extra
items needed after flashing a new image while they learn how to add manually
add to the image also i would like a user interface in the box menu, so i could set the
channel list on every satellite to start at number [1] one. i always scan my own channel list
and like to set, my favourite sections in my own number order,apart from these items i like

All i can say is, try all images out and find the best one wich suits you most. I have tryed a lot of images, but i always come back to VTI. And on the other hand, with flashing differend images you gonna learn a lot of new things about your VU.
Has to be ViX for me, think ive tried every single image out there now and always gone back to ViX!
Well i after report i have not had one thing go wrong with this one over 3 weeks now must say it's very stable would recommend others give it a try

BH is an interesting picture has everything you need for a stable
has one small wade (skin) lack of choice to whatever I like.
