Sky Sports has extended its agreement with the England & Wales Cricket Board until 2019.

The two-year extension on the existing deal includes live coverage of all of England’s Test matches played at home, including series against Pakistan and India in 2018 and the Ashes in 2019, all One Day International and T20 games, and at least 60 days of domestic cricket across the English summer.

Brian Havill, the ECB Acting Chief Executive, said: “In the last decade their loyalty and quality as a broadcasting partner has been beyond question and has benefited the game in so many ways. In that period there has been an unprecedented level of investment in the county game, including facilities, the grassroots, particularly coaching, and of course the England men’s and women’s teams. Now in this, Sky’s 10th season as the exclusive live broadcaster, that determination to support the game shines through with the announcement that every ball of the England women’s Ashes series will be shown live.”

Sky became the principal broadcaster of UK domestic and international cricket in 2006; before this time the matches had been shown by Channel 4 and historically by the BBC, punctuated by interruptions for other events such as horse racing and famously Friends.

A highlights package of UK Test cricket is shown by Channel 5 and CricInfo reports that highlights of domestic cricket may be added to a new deal.

I h8 cricket. So BT will not be bidding for it. We will however, be upping the stakes for the PL next season & going forward. Once Sty have been obliterated, then and only then may we consider the lesser sports such as Tiddly Winks, Cricket, etc.....
