Sky appoints new exec
Lucy Murphy has been appointed new head of kids content at Sky. She will take up the newly created role in November and report to director of entertainment, Stuart Murphy.

The role includes overseeing the children’s section of Sky’s on demand library which recently saw the number of episodes of kids shows available grow from 700 to 4,000 episodes.

Murphy will also be involved with the development of Sky’s new kids app, working closely with ustwo, expected to launch in early 2016.

Commenting on the appointment, Stuart Murphy said: We are delighted to welcome Lucy to the team. She’ll be fantastic. At Sky, we want to make sure we provide loads of great content for everyone in the household and our kids offering is a big part of that. Anyone with young kids knows that they want to watch their favourite shows when they want, wherever they are and over and over and over again. So as well as having the best selection of live channels, making sure we have the best on demand offer and the best kids app in the market is incredibly important. Lucy has considerable experience and expertise to make sure we do just that.”

Lucy Murphy added: “I’ve always been passionate about delivering content that connects deeply with kids on many levels. This is an amazing opportunity to do just that with a team that shares my belief that kids matter and that they deserve the very best content provided in the most direct and engaging way. I can’t wait to get started.”
