Very strange DD....I have now flashed this image and still .......after a WLAN scan ..."No wireless connections found"
Yet there are two services(BT and Three Network) within 3ft ...of the VU....LAN Hardwired Fine.
WLAN to Laptop ok ..using that now.
I will try a non backup version...next:confused2:

Happens sometimes.

I quite often find that I get to the point where I am ready to back up a new image with just a few plugins left to add & all of a sudden it begins to throw up errors. Reflash the same image, follow the same procedure to the letter & FFS it works perfectly. Go figure. :puz

Only observation I forgot to mention about this image is that the download feeds no longer worked for me but suspect an opkg update might be needed.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for posting this image. Fantastic work. Problem I have 1. I am new here. 2, I have installed on a Duo 2. I set the path for the HDD. I added the media folder as per instructions. I run XBMC launcher, and when launched it goes to a blank screen and then goes back to the menu but XBMC did not load/start. I restarted the box and tried a number of times to launch XBMC but it still displays a blank display and then goes back to the plugins menu. Has anyone else had this issue and if so how can I fix this. Thank you in advance.

I think you have misunderstood the original post, the folder is something you can optionally add to give a startup group of useful addons like described in this post.

Delete the folders you created then restart & run xbmc launcher again.

Hi Ten Below, many thanks for your quick reply. Much appreciated. What I didnt mention was this is my second attempt at running XBMC. The first time I set up, I set up without the media folder. I couldnt get XBMC to start. the second time I tried I added the media folder just in case my system was missing something. Thank you for explaining. I have just reflashed my box and set up the HDD path and XBMC still does not run. When I press start using the plugin menu it still goes to a blank screen and then jumps back to the plugin menu. Have you any other ideas for what I can try next please?

I would appreciate it if someone would put a brief breakdown of how to set this image on a Vu+ Duo2 from scratch just in case the order in which I am installing and setting up is incorrect. eg when and how to set up the paths to the HDD, etc. Im just clutching at straws as this image is working for others and as far as I know I am setting up as intended. Thank you in advance.

Im guessing that something went wrong with the original first run of xbmc, try connecting with filezilla & deleting the .xbmc folder then start again but to see this you will need to enable show hidden files as described in the linked post.

DCC also allows this but imo only it is not reliable with large files, when done do a full restart & try running the launcher again.
Which image are you running btw?

Wow thank you for your quick reply. OK I deleted the folder and restarted the box. The problem continues. The image I am using is the one provided at the top of this page. vuplus.zip. Open ATV 5 XBMC Edition.

I unzipped to a usb stick and reflashed the box. So it is a clean install. I only use Filezilla so thats how I transferred the original zip file. I also selected Force Showing Hidden Files. Can you confirm what I should see in the file structure when it is installed properly please? I cannot see .xbmc folder in the file structure even when I install as a fresh image. I did see it in the hdd path when I transferred the media folder over. This has since been deleted. I really appreciate all help provided. Desperate to get this running as everything else is working great.

Does/did xbmc work ok on other images or is this the first try?

Hi, XBMC has never worked for me using this image (ATV 5 XBMC Edition). I have tried numerous attempts but it always goes to the blank screen and then back to the plugins menu. Other plugins work fine. I have tried other images such as Black Hole and Open Black Hole and XBMC worked in a fashion (broken links and updates not always working).

The feeds are down buddy, i have no way of testing myself right now but think that upgrading to the latest image may well solve this problem.
